Teddy Bear Patrol
The Odessa Teddy Bear Patrol was formed as a support organization for the Odessa Police Department in 1990. The goal of the organization was to provide an additional tool for Officers to help children of Odessa that have been involved in a traumatic event. The Odessa Teddy Bear Patrol began supplying stuffed teddy bears for the Department. The bears are placed in all Odessa Police and Fire Department vehicles.
The Teddy Bear Patrol has expanded and also provides the bears to the Ector County Medical Examiners Office and U.T.P.B. Police Department. The bears are utilized by officers as a comfort item for young children who are involved in a traumatic event.
The Odessa Teddy Bear Patrol is part of the Professional Police Officers Association as a non-profit program funded by donations and an annual pancake breakfast fund-raiser that is hosted by the Earl S. Bailey American Legion Post in Odessa.
