Police Explorer’s First Nighter

The Professional Police Officers Association (PPOA) of Odessa will be hosting an open “First Nighter” on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at the Police Athletic League Gym (1015 North County Road West) from 6 to 8pm.  This “First Nighter” meeting is free and is important for prospective Explorers and their parents/guardians to attend.   During this meeting, we will review what is expected from both the Explorer and the Program.

Following the meeting, you will have the opportunity to sign up to join the Explorer Program, as well as explore various facets of law enforcement.  The PPOA will have Odessa Police Department SWAT, Bomb Squad, Detectives, and Patrol Officers available to answer any questions regarding the career of law enforcement.  We will also have free pizza and drinks for prospective explorers and their parents.

Program costs are: $45 TOTAL for the 2016-2017 PPOA Explorer Course ($30 Registration Fee and $15 PPOA Administrative Fee). The uniform may be purchased upon completion of the course by the graduating member.  Upon successful completion of our class, they will be eligible to participate in our Police ride-along program. This program allows them to observe Odessa Police Department officers as they perform their job. They can also participate in the numerous ongoing activities that the Explorer members plan.
